Releasing/Processing Suppressed Emotions

Q.  Dear Lynn,

I may need your help regarding releasing/processing suppressed emotions. Can you intuitively look into the best way in which one can release or maybe process suppressed emotions and what role these emotions play in causing health issues? If possible do a blog post covering this topic.

Any author or emotional healer you intuitively come up with whose work to follow like Deepak Chopra, Inna Segal, Dr. Bradely Nelson and any other is appreciated. There is documentary namely E-Motion Part 1 & 2 covering this topic.  You might was to watch:

A.  First, thanks for the information and I am sure some people reading this may want to seek out the methods the above mentioned people use.  The E-Motion series may also be helpful.

The name the comes to the forefront when I focus on this topic is Louise Hay.  If someone can realize they have some suppressed emotion, they can work to release it, but often times it is the physical manifestation that makes us realize either more work needs done, or we are in denial that the emotion is still within us.  For example, you've suffered a trauma, worked to heal from it, but it isn't until you have a digestive issue that you realize you still hold onto this energy of this pain.  I resonate with Louise, and feel she is very on point when tying the physical and thought pattern/emotions together.

The first step in release an emotion (or thought pattern) that isn't serving you is to recognize that you have it.  Sometimes the person needs to meditate often or partake in quiet time where they can be alone with their thoughts in order to look at themselves.  It could happen quickly, or take a few weeks, but in time the emotion or thought will come up.

If things are not recognized, then the emotion can manifest into a physical symptom, in which case someone else may need to assist in determining where it comes from.  Many times in readings when I see the solar plexus light up it is telling me emotion is the root of what is going on, and often it relates to an ailment in the abdomen.  Light workers can sense the trauma, and through asking questions help the person remember where it is coming from.  There are also licensed professionals that can be beneficial too in cases of extreme trauma or situations where medications (severe depression or anxiety are displayed) might need to be used for the person's safety until they are able to deal with what is going on inside them.

Maybe you think you have trauma and don't know how to purge it.  Meditation is helpful with a focus on purging negativity or heavy energy.  Affirmations are also helpful in rewiring the way you think to create your reality.

There are other methods too, but the above mentioned ones really stand out.  Please feel free to leave a comment of anything that may have help you as it may also help someone else.

Love and light,
Lynn

I'll bet emotional suppression is something that affects everyone on some level and that we all have to work on it throughout our lifetime in some way. I never heard of Louise Hay before but found this incredibly beautiful animated YouTube presentation on her common sense approach to releasing guilt and other deep issues. Thanks Lynn for telling us about Louise Hay and I recommend everyone watch this to check her out:

Chris Thomas is another psychic healer who sees energies. He has a bunch of great books sharing his findings and experiences.

Bessel Van Der Kolk is the world authority on traumas, emotions and memories trapped in the body. His book is called The Body Keeps The Score and he has influenced a lot of modern trauma treatment. There will be youtube videos you can dip into. He's not really Mr Charisma and has a strong accent, but he's a fount of knowledge.

Another person I recommend is Niki Gratrix whose work is rooted in all the most up to date studies, including buried childhood traumas, energy work, functional medicine nutrition, meditation, sound healing, sleep cycles, everything. Every few months she runs a free 5 day intensive taster course covering all the various aspects of recovery and the therapies that work. She then offers a longer more personalised paid-for course but the taster course alone contains A LOT of very useful information and guidance on the multiple small changes that make a big difference. She also runs specialised healing meditations and yoga for a membership. Again, there will be interviews and such like online where you can find useful tips.

Personally, the most transformative practice beyond sit-down meditation was Qi Gong, which is magic because it does its work without you having to figure anything out or 'try'. It's common for teachers to have 5 or 10 minute routines for first thing in the morning and last thing at night, and you'll find lots of those on youtube to try out. The effect is cumulative and can be surprising.

There are in fact two free 5 day online courses in process right now, though like Niki Gratrix they come around again every few months if it's too late now.

Lee Holden does straightforward Qi Gong videos and he is superb. His freebie course is presumably still open for registration and the replays will be available until (I think) the end of the month. It's half a dozen 20 minute routines with more information in his emails and blog. He's very laid back and his studio is beautiful, which matters when you're staring at it for long periods! If it's too late, he should be running it again in January if you sign up for his newsletter.

Tristan Truscott comes from a Martial Arts background but also teaches Qi Gong, along with some more specialised meditation. He has a very bubbly personality and presents with his wife, but he's been through the dark night of the soul and suffered years of crippling back pain from suppressed emotional crap. His course is coming to end very soon, though they also do it again in the winter if you sign up.

Qi Gong is really moving meditation, and it works so well because it releases all the kinks and trapped stuff in your (energy) body, not just your mind alone. That's really key.

When difficult emotions release and come up, journaling it all out, maybe with ritual burning or disposal of the writings, helps to bring closure.

I genuinely wish you the best with it, I've been through the mill and come out the other side. This stuff works!

@Robert: I agree. It is something we all need to work on. Part of our life journey is to deal with the situations/emotions that arise. Welcome to the 3D.

@Jacqui: Thank you. :-)

@CarTalkbyJJ: Yes, I believe you are correct.

@s.joshua: Thank you for sharing!

@Kalamota: Thanks so much for sharing this with us! I appreciate you taking time to leave this comment.
