doTERRA: Ever Try Golden Milk?

I stumbled upon this recipe and wanted to share it with you.  It has lots of good things in it to support health and healing.  I tried it and it was delicious!  (Please remember that this recipe was intended to use doTERRA essential oils which are certified pure therapeutic grade.  If you alter the ingredients, please know what you are putting in your body.)

Golden Milk
Ingredients (enough for two to three people):
  • 2 cups almond milk
  • 2 tbsp of raw honey
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 drop doTERRA black pepper essential oil*
  • 1 drop doTERRA ginger essential oil**
  • 1 drop doTERRA cassia essential oil***

Directions:
On medium heat milk to a near boil.  Lower the heat and stir in turmeric and cinnamon.  Add the doTERRA black pepper essential oil.  Next, add the honey and remaining doTERRA essential oils.  Stir well and let it rest for a few minutes.   Pour, relax and enjoy!

*Black pepper provides antioxidant support and supports healthy circulation.
**Ginger may help reduce bloating, gas and occasional indigestion.  It also supports healthy digestion.

I love this idea! I will definitely cherish all of your recipes.Thank you so much for taking the time to share this with us! I jumped on the oil bandwagon recently..so I still have a lot to learn and was just thinking to myself that I’d like more info on this stuff.. preferably from someone I knew.. not a salesperson, and then you come up with this wonderful idea! It’s just what we need. Many thanks! 💕

Isn't it unnecessarily complicated to first extract different oils from these spices, then add these oils to the drink, instead of simply using the raw materials directly as they are, for example ground pepper and grated ginger?

I also think that these kind of posts should be kept apart from the psychic ones, either in a different department or in a different blog altogether.

To Lynn and all the curious:

"Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade" on DoTerra oils means absolutely ZILCH! It has nothing to do with their oils or quality or process, and everything to do with marketing.

I do believe their oils are of good quality, though these words themselves are solely for selling their brand and do not set them "above" other oil brands.

These words are a trademark that the company owns, it means as much as Tony the Tiger on Frosted Flakes saying, "They're GRRRREAT!"

Being a trademark also entails, it is illegal for any other oil company to label theirs with the same words... but it doesn't really matter, since it is not a REAL certification.

Here's a couple links to back that up, I found this out when doing some research on the company a few years back since a friend of mine had gone through their sales pitch, joined herself, and was attempting to spread it through me too:

https://trademarks.justia.com/776/83/cptg-certified-pure-therapeutic-77683687.html

https://webessentialoils.com/cptg-essential-oils/

Please note:
I believe that even those selling the oil typically will have no idea about this. My friend didn't and was a bit blown away to hear about it. Even those recruiting new salespeople through the marketing meetings are likely unaware... it is a REALLY great marketing scheme, to put words like "certified" in a trademark.

I assure you, they use it VERY WELL in their marketing. But it is all their own "certification" process and nothing officially done independently to verify their claims outside of their organization.

Always use your own intuitions to guide what types of oils to use in, on and around your body.

@RL: I'm glad you like them and they have value to you. I have been thinking of doing this for a while, and decided to go for it.

@Love to Push Buttons: Thanks for the kind words!

@enlightened one: I did think this over for a while before I decided to do it. I know they are totally different posts, but I think a lot of my audience would benefit from it. I love to share info, and this gave me a platform to do so. Also, yes, if you would like to use the raw ingredients you could do that. The healing properties may be slightly weaker (oils are very intense), but the flavor would be similar.

@s.joshua: Thanks for the info. I had read and was trained that it was because they tested these and got the label due to their level of purity (I could be wrong, and you are right that many things people do are for the purposes of marketing). I do believe in these products, but I also agree that people need to do and use what is right for them. You are so right in using intuition to guide you toward what is right for you (could be food, oils, herbs, vitamins, etc...) Thanks again for this info.

Thanks again for the comments. Love and light-

Happy Thanksgiving Lynn!! I am certainly grateful for you and your work!!

I'm glad you posted this. I'm trained in Essential Oil Therapy from a Healing Arts College in Santa Cruz, Ca . We were trained on the science of the oils and Only used those by a local co. called Elizabeth Van Buren. Our instructor informed us about Young Living and subsequently do terra being unethical, not to use their products and certainly not to injest even those claiming to be "safe" because their labaeling was either lies or misleading. This was a strongly delivered message. If you dig a little deeper using your psychic shovel - what do you get regarding these aforementionedsupposed transgressions?

Thank you!!

Hi Lynn, interesting! I was together with Indian people this week and the use turmeric / curcumin in hot milk against colds etc. The fat in milk will solubilise the actives and enhance uptake. Your health posts are appreciated

Hi,Golden milk is indeed an amazing drink.
I make a paste by mixing turmeric with water, freshly ground black pepper and cook over a gentle heat to make a paste, then add a good coconut oil.
That's the basic recipe but I also add ground cinnamon, ginger, cardamom and ground fennel seed.
This paste I keep in a glass jar in the fridge to make my nightly golden milk.
I mix some of this paste in a small saucepan with milk and raw honey, warm until paste is dissolved in the milk.
A couple of times during the day I take a small amount of the paste straight from a teaspoon and I also add a small amount to my herbal tea, also to chai tea taken with milk.
The black pepper and a good quality oil are essential for absorption of the curcumin. Also cooking the mixture.
For vegans the milk can be almond, coconut etc
The oil should be either food grade coconut oil or virgin olive oil, although other good quality oil can be used.
Coconut oil makes it more pleasant taste wise.
The black pepper should be freshly ground but it you only have ground pepper it can also be used.
The paste kept refrigerated in a glass jar easily lasts around 3 weeks.
The golden milk is delicious

@The Sharing Bridge: Thank you for sharing. That is great that you trained in this. I hope to learn more myself (incorporate it in with reiki). I feel that Elizabeth VanBuren's product is a high quality product. I also feel that doTERRA and Young Living are also high quality and highly tested products. I think to use or not use oils and what brand to go with is a personal decision, but all three mentioned feel "good" to me. I have been taking doTERRA internally for years and I can see where it has helped me a lot (but I also believe the intent used plays a huge role too) and that is why I trust them.

@Seeker: You are most welcome

@Angeles: Thanks for sharing this. It sounds amazing (and delicious)! Yes, the black pepper in any recipe helps with absorption (so important to know). Thanks again!
