How many of you have conversations in your head? Not with a spirit or other entity, but your own thoughts and within your own mind. I have conversations all the time. Even while typing this I'm narrating the words in my mind. I'm contemplating what I want to say and how to say it.
When I read a story, I hear the words out loud in my mind as I mentally illustrate my own images of what I think is happening. As I get up I plan my day in my mind. As I drink my coffee I'm thinking how good it tastes. Everything to me is a personal narration. I can' t imagine going through the world unable to have an internal dialogue.
As I take it a step further it simply baffles me. How do people read? Write? Weigh pros and cons? Have internal reflection? Or, even see a word and know it rhymes with another word? I hear everything and visualize things all day long.
There are people out there like that. I understand some see images, but have no voice or dialogue at all. I'm not sure if this is a newer evolution or have we always had two different ways our mind's are wired.
I have a theory that when the God gene came under attack, it did something to that part of the mind. This created a deviation so people couldn't have an inner dialogue with God or have the ability to silently pray. As the beer bug come on strong and the shot followed, I sense that was an even further attempt to destroy our inner God connection. As people started to discuss "non-player characters" (NPC), perhaps there is some slight truth to a biological way the mind works. If you lack the ability to have an internal dialogue with your conscious self maybe NPC is a term to describe those lacking an internal dialogue.
I'd love to hear comments on both sides of the fence. If you are like me and your mind never stops narrating the world, what are your thoughts? If you don't have an internal dialogue, please help give clarity to any or all of the points above. How is the world processed in your mind - especially when it comes to reading and writing with full comprehension.
Blessings,
Lynn

Wow, this is really interesting that some don’t have the ability to talk to themselves. I not only think it in my head, I say it out loud.
I talk to myself all the time, it bugs my husband because he never knows if I’m speaking to myself or him. I visualize things in my mind before I do them, it helps me prioritize my day. Great topic Lynn!
Sometimes I feel like Brick from the tv show The Middle.
I do have several dialogues with me, sometimes I even move my hands as a response of the conversatons I have (and I think people will think I am nuts LOL)
I had the J N J shot, and if anything it had the opposite effect. I am more awake and went back to praying, I pray at night silently for the truth and for protection (mainly for children). The evil is now at plain sight (for those who want to see it) and it is worse than I thought
@RealCousinIT: Same! I think, visualize and talk going about my day.
@Anon: I'm happy to hear the J & J didn't seem to impact you. :-)
I have a different theory....Maybe when they messed with the God gene they made us dependent on using language to communicate with God. Before language we all communicated telepathically with energy and could communicate so, SO much more. Language is actually very limiting.
Lol I was just talking about this with another deaf friend! As a deaf person I grew up without an inner dialogue and didn’t know until a few years ago that it was unusual. I think for some deaf people who are used to having no sound it’s possible to not have an inner dialogue. For example, if I can’t understand what hearing people are saying then how am I supposed to form words in my head by sound? What I do is similar to ESP I think. I just “know” what word I am thinking of. As I type this I can either visualize the word or “know” my next word is (Insert word here). If I do have sounds in my head it’s random and it’s in the form of music like... violin, piano... etc. that comes from my experience of being in places where the music was so loud that I could hear it. I used to joke that my guardian angels have their job cut out for them because they have to heavily rely on my intuition to respond to whatever they’re trying to tell me, haha.
And to answer some of your questions, I did wear hearing aids before but they were not helpful at all. They were very irritating and I HATED them. I think the wavelengths are different and it was like listening through a radio.. it was either too loud and stimulating and gave me headaches, or outright annoying, and they didn’t help me understand words at all. It’s because I didn’t learn how to listen to word formulations at a young age. I passed that time frame and became heavily dependent on lip reading and sign language. I know of some hard of hearing people who were talked to with hearing aids as a young child and was able to learn how to listen for words etc.. these people can have inner dialogues like you guys but not all the time. Honestly, I’ve adapted to my silent world and love it very much. It gives me the ability to focus when needed, and I do have other senses to help me if something happens around me, like if the dog is chasing the cats around, etc. I can feel it. I can even sense it like an intuition. I just know something is going on and I will get up to investigate. This is very interesting post!
Inner dialog is called "Thinking." Scary the idea of those without it. It is also that little voice called our conscious advising us to workout or avoid a car accident.
@Cheryl: That's an interesting take... could be totally possible.
@RL: OMGosh, thank you so much for sharing your personal experience. I find this super interesting. I appreciate you taking time to share this with all of us.
@Robert: I know, I feel the same way... This is super interesting to me..
@Lynn- thank you! I enjoy sharing that with you guys, I’m glad you made that post :)
@Robert- I think it is scary to people who depend on their inner dialogue and don’t know how life would be without it. If it was a situation where someone had a inner dialogue for a long time then lost it suddenly due to the beer sh*t or something else then yes that would be unsettling. But if you were born or grew up without it, I think God gives you other ways to connect. I believe there are spiritual ways to connect which is why people always say clear your mind, quiet your mind etc etc when meditating.
Over in Sweden, I've heard so many people say they had friends who were once fairly open-minded and intelligent suddenly turning into idiots after the shot.
@enlightened one: I do think there is something to that!! It alters the body and can deaden the ability to connect inward.
🤣 I hv many (supposedly) intelligent colleagues who turned into ppl without critical thinking when they decided to get the shot without checking the ingredients, how vex r made and the possible side effects. Majority of them wear masks too. It's like a badge of honour (idiots).
I think in my mind or daydream when awake. Sometimes I get answers or where to look for solution for problems that I need to solve in dreams. My body / facial expressions may also change when I'm talking to self or others in my mind haha. I think it's connected to the heart and our senses when we hv inner conversations with self.
