Medusa - Was She Real?

Q.  Your blog mentions various mythical creatures such as mermaids and other entities. Did Medusa really exist, or was she fiction? What parts of her are real, and what aren't?

Lastly, if she did exist, how was she as a ruler? Was she competent and kind? Competent and evil?  Not competent at all?

A.  As I think on Medusa I do see that she was a real being that allowed emotions to transmute her into something else.  I get she was beautiful and powerful.  She was a great ruler and people looked to her.  It was in that status that other Gods would pay attention to her, and want to team up.  She was strong and independent.  She didn't allow herself to be distracted by many things, including pleasures of the flesh.

At one point I get she was brutally attacked.  It was more about showing who had power, and to force her to realize her mortal body.  It triggered emotions within her subconscious.  I hear the quote "there is a dark wolf within each of us, and if you feed it, it will appear."  That is exactly what she did.  Her focus became revenge and justice so much that she physically took on the part with the help of Athena.

Now as people looked at her and even had the notion of pleasures of the flesh, they would be punished or even killed.  It was her way to exact revenge on the very thing that caused her so much internal pain.  I don't see actual snakes for hair, but she fed that dark wolf to where she was unstoppable.  A picture is worth a thousand words, and that is the persona people remembered and passed on in literature, etc.

She was once very kind and competent, and then ego took over.  The brutal attack killed her innocence and literally made a monster out of her.  This monster and wrathful nature is what kept her story alive.  Very sad, yet very real how horrific events can change a person.

And that is all I have for this reading.  Thank you.  Love and light, Lynn

Very cool read on Medusa, Lynn, but it's sad to learn she didn't really have snakes for hair back then. Was this an early example of Fake News Mythology?

Hi Lynn,

thank you so much for this reading!

This reminds me of fathers taking revenge for their daughters I've thought a long time that revenge is justified in certain cases..
But it seems that she wanted to punish everyone for what happened to her.

Can someone can come back into the light after such a gruesome event? Has she crossed over or are parts of her still lingering here on earth?

How can we not fall into the trap of revenge?

Thank you so much!

@Suz: Oh wow... thousands of years ago. I'm not sure of the exact date.

@Robert: I think it is more like a glorified telephone game of passing on a legend. Fake News is intentional to mislead, this was just to tell a story.

@Isanne: Revenge is a horrible thing. It can overtake most anyone. I think life paths lead can lead you to horrible things, and how you respond is sort of a test. You can come back, or it can take you over. I think she is fully in spirit now and not wanting to reincarnate yet... even after ALL those years.

Thank you so much Lynn for this reading and your comment.
So many women have had their holy femininity destroyed by power. I hope hers is healed and will inspire other women who went through a similar experience.

I wonder was Akasha real. In ancient Egyptian folklore she is the first vampire.

Thank you, Lynn. I am guessing Medusa had such a commanding & dominating presence that people would freeze at the sight of her. Hence being 'turned to stone'. A little disappointed too that Medusa's mythological traits were more of an emotional manifestation rather than literal. Nevertheless, very interesting!

@Myway: Oh wow... that sounds like a good topic!

@Kyle: You are welcome, and thank you.
