Strange Outdoors Mystery

Q.  I find your website(s) not only fascinating and informative, but thought provoking as well.  There are so many strange aspects to this 1970s cold case, can you offer any insights to what might have happened? Thank you.

On February 24, 1978, a group of friends from Yuba City in California; Gary Dale Mathias, Jack Madruga, Jackie Huett, Theodore (Ted) Weiher and William Sterling; set out on a trip to watch a basketball game, left after it finished and then somehow drove up a mountain into the wilderness and were never seen again. This story has been described as the American version of the very mysterious Dyatlov Pass incident. This involved the unsolved deaths of nine ski hikers in the northern Ural Mountains in the Soviet Union READ MORE..
A.  I think the easiest way to approach this is to look at various questions surrounding this to try to get a clearer perspective. I want to break down these key points..

Why did the men get lost that night and end up on the mountain? (They detoured from a path, and this was not the planned destination)
As I place myself in the car with them, I see bright lights far off in the sky as they are driving. At first it looked they looked like flashes or twinkles, and then it turned to several consistent lights. They weren't sure what they were seeing, but these lights appeared to be a fleet of UFO crafts in the sky. They were curious, but then became confident as to what they were seeing. I get it was a very impromptu decision, but they decided they were going to take a slight detour to get a better look. They didn't use maps, or even note the roads they took, they just tried to get to the source of the bright lights. I hear the phrase "they were like moths being drawn to a flame."

What happened around the car? (The car was found abandoned, and the men just left. The car was not broken down, just simply they walked away from it).
I get when they got close to the lights, something or someone jumped out in front of the car. I hear them scream as they were certain they saw an ET. They pulled over because they wanted to investigate, and were outside looking around. They were searching for footprints or a path. They wanted a confirmation or to even see the being clearer.

How did the group end up around a trailer 19 miles from the car? (They trekked 19 miles from their car. One gentlemen was found deceased at this trailer, and signs of the others being with him were found. They too just left.)
After they got out of the car, they did see a strange footprints, and started to follow them. They started walking, and not really paying attention to their surroundings. They were intrigued, and just started walking. They did not intent to walk as far as they did, and at one point even wanted to go back, but felt twisted around. The snow was coming down, and the not only was they path they were following being covered up, but their path their was also being covered. Now they were in a woody area, cold and lost. After several hours of wandering, they were able to eventually find their way to the trailer.

Why did Ted Weiher apparently starve to death? (There were supplies at the trailer, but he didn't take advantage of them.)
I get with the cold, exhaustion, lack of meds and mental imbalance, he convinced himself that the food was poisoned, or something was in it. I see an image of Jack Nicholson in The Shining and understand this is how Ted was feeling toward the end. He lacked control of his thoughts and emotions, and eventually hypothermia took hold.

And that is all I have for this reading. Thank you. Love and light, Lynn

What happended to the others? They were not found at the trailer, right?

@mycale: This is correct, but some of their remains were found in the woods.

this is a mysterious event seems connected to other missing person cases reported in Missing 411. Lynn's read that the cars were led to follow lights in the sky and strange footprints suggest an alien abduction. It seems impossible they would have pursue the lights or Tracks if they were in the midst of a snowstorm so it's even interesting that perhaps whoever abducted them may have created the bad weather to cover their tracks.
