Nature's Pharmacy: A Guide to Herbal and DIY Antibiotics

I love sharing interesting tidbits that cross my path, and this is no exception! I wanted to pass along this image with herbal and naturally made antibiotic ideas, and I hope you discover something here that’s as valuable to you as it has been to me. Oregano, cinnamon and honey have always been a go-to for me.  I'd forgotten how powerful black pepper can be as an anti-viral and this was a nice reminder.  Enjoy!

Happy Friday!

Much Love, Lynn

Happy Friday! Mineral Cheat Sheet

Hey everyone! Hope you're gearing up for a Happy Friday! It's been a looooong week with the arctic blast and apparently, it’s not done with us in Southern Ohio yet. I'm incredibly grateful for our tractor—we had to plow out our driveway AND the neighbors' just to escape!

I'm including a Mineral Deficiency Chart that came across my Facebook feed.  I thought you would all enjoy it because who doesn’t love a little science with their snowstorm?  Stay safe and stay warm.

Much love, Lynn

Nature’s Medicine Cabinet: Immune Boosters, Natural Antibiotics, and Antivirals

Not everyone has access to a doctor, and even those who do might not always want to rely [or trust] a pill to fix their problems. I believe that natural remedies are often gentler on the body, and with the right knowledge, we can find many of the healing ingredients we need right in our kitchens or backyards. I’d like to share some homemade antibiotic/antiviral/heal boosting recipes that I’ve personally used with success. Keep in mind that going the natural route requires patience and consistency.  It often means dosing a few times a day and giving your body the time it needs to heal.  [One last tip, when you desire a more natural approach, start the treatment at the first sign of an illness.  Don't wait until it grabs ahold of you.]

The first step to staying healthy is keeping your immune system in balance. You can do this by incorporating a few key nutrients into your routine:
  • Vitamin C: Skip the sugary juices and opt for a quality supplement or vitamin-rich foods instead. Vitamin C is a superstar for giving your immune system a boost.
  • Zinc: This mineral is like a roadblock for viruses, helping to inhibit their replication.
  • Magnesium: It keeps your immune system in check by promoting toxin excretion and supporting overall health.
  • Vitamin D: Known as the sunshine vitamin, it’s essential for a strong and resilient immune response.
  • Vitamin K2: Think of this as your vitamin wingman.  It helps your body absorb and use those other nutrients more effectively.

Next is hydration.  Remember our bodies are over 60% electrolyte which means it is 60% water with other minerals (sodium, potassium, chloride, magnesium, calcium, phosphate, and bicarbonate).  Don't just drink a ton of water which sets the electrolyte off balance, but drink water and add a pinch of things like Himalayan salt to either the water drink or foods you consume to keep the minerals in balance.

If you are encountering a severe illness, fasting is the single best and aggressive way to cleanse the body, start the process of autophagy and jump start the immune system to attack toxins and foreign bodies. (Always do research before being aggressive in this way. I can also coach you through the process.)

Most times I will use many of the following at the same time to really knock out what I have going on:

Tea Tree Oil:  Great for sinus infections and ear infections.  If you are feeling stuffy, headachy or are prone to a sinus infection, put this on your cheeks under your eyes (but not IN your eyes as it will burn).  At the first sign of an earache, put tea tree behind your ear and then put a few drops on a cotton ball and put the cotton ball in your ear.  In both situations do this a few times a day for a few days or until you feel the relief. [Safety Tip:  When handling essential oils if you EVER get it in your eyes or use on your skin and see a sensitivity emerge, immediately dilute with any oil such as coconut, olive, avocado, etc.  Oil can dilute with oil, but oil will not mix with water will just agitate it more.]

Oregano Oil:  This is a powerful antibiotic and can be used for things like strep throat, coughs, sinus, UTI, etc.  You can take it neat, but it is HOT on the tongue.  A veggie capsule is the way to go.  I put about 3 drops of essential oil in a capsule and take three times a day until symptoms are gone.  [Helpful hint:  You can prepare several capsules at one time so you aren't doing the whole process multiple times a day.  If you do this, put in the fridge, otherwise the oils will eat through the veggie capsule at room temperature.  This is a good thing and shows how quickly the capsule will break down for absorption in the body.]

Garlic: Garlic is great for the immune system, and really great for any type of digestive or intestinal issue.  I've also had success with garlic when it comes to sore throats (paired with gargling salt water).  You can take garlic pills or just consume lots of garlic.  Your sweat may smell like spaghetti, but you will feel much better in a few days.

Peppermint Oil:  Peppermint is great for headaches, but also great for stomach issues.  If you have a headache put peppermint on the temples (dilute if you have sensitive skin).  When it comes to digestive ailments, put a few drops on the belly (again, dilute if you have sensitive skin).  Peppermint essential oil is great for fighting fevers by putting a few drops on the inner wrist.

BONUS Mom Hack:  Have you or your kids ever been so sick they cannot keep anything down?  Not even water.  The bottom of the feet are VERY absorbent, so use this to your advantage.  I put a few drops of oregano essential oil, peppermint essential oil, tea tree oil and sometimes frankincense essential oil combined and on the bottom of the feet (dilute if need be).  It is a way to get the healing started without triggering more vomiting.  This has worked great for me in the past.

The above are general recommendations, but if you have something personal going on and are seeking a more natural route to healing, please reach out to me.  We can set up an individualized appointment where I can help you set up a protocol to get you back on the path to your old self!

Happy Healing!

Much Love, Lynn

Butcher's Broom - An Answer to Circulation Issues

Who has heard of Butcher's Broom?  Not I until a few weeks ago when someone from the blog shared information with me and I couldn't resist diving deeper into the health benefits.

It is most known for its potential benefits in improving blood circulation. Butcher's Broom constricts veins, thus aiding in better circulation (think support hose, but from the inside).  My "go to" protocol for heart and blood issues (thick blood, clotting, etc) is twofold:  eliminate inflammatory sugar/carbohydrates and take cinnamon and now I have something new to consider.

Some people experience a drop in blood pressure when they stand and if you get light-headed often, you know what I'm referring to.  Make sure your sodium and mineral levels are good, and if they are it could be related to circulation.  There is evidence Butcher's Broom can help with this condition.

Like anything, do your research before starting a new supplement.  Once you do I sense you will be as pleasantly surprised as I was.

You can take Butcher's broom  in various forms including capsules, tinctures, and teas.  There is no "exact" dose, BUT I find that supplemental capsules that are pre-measured help take some of the guesswork out of dosing (again, do your research).  Here is the one I would suggest: https://amzn.to/41xKfH3

Happy Healing!  Please share your experiences!

Lynn

HIDDEN Cancer TRUTH They Don't Want You to Know!

Have you heard of the Warburg effect? The Warburg effect is a metabolic phenomenon observed in cancer cells, where these cells preferentially use glycolysis (i.e., SUGAR) for energy production. This phenomenon was discovered in the 1920s (over a CENTURY ago), revealing that cancer thrives on sugar.

Cancer cells feed on sugar, which helps to accelerate their replication. This is demonstrated during PET scans in which they use glucose markers to identify areas of high metabolic activity.

Please join me on PatreonSubscribeStarSubstack or Buy Me a Coffee where we can diver deeper!  The evil running the wealthcare beast want to suppress this info especially as it pertains to the big "C."

Prayer and Fasting - Cancer Truth in Plain Sight and a BONUS

There are many misconceptions about our food, and most things we need to heal dis-ease and cancers are found in both things we should and SHOULD not be eating.  Sugar and all its aliases are one of the WORST things a person can consume with a cancer diagnosis.  They like to hide sugar behind fancy words, but don't be fooled.

Other names for sugar:
Sugars ending in “-ose”: fructose, maltose, dextrose
Natural sweeteners: honey, molasses, maple syrup, agave nectar
Syrups: high-fructose corn syrup, cane syrup, corn sweetener, rice syrup
Other names: sucrose, barley malt, lactose, glucose
Less common names: anhydrous dextrose, crystalline fructose, invert sugar, brown rice syrup, fruit nectar, pancake syrup, raw sugar, beet sugar, confectioner’s powdered sugar, liquid fructose, white granulated sugar, coconut sugar, turbinado sugar, carob syrup

**NOTE:  Naturally occurring sweeteners in nature such as monk fruit or stevia are NOT on this list and perfectly acceptable as they do not trigger insulin spikes or create inflammation when processed by the body.  When on a keto diet these are the sweeteners of choice as they work in harmony with the body**

Why is sugar so bad you ask?  I will tell you why along with a BONUS (It got me banned and a strike the last time I tried to discuss it, but I'm hoping the alt platforms now can handle it).  Please join me on SubscribeStarSubstack or Buy Me a Coffee where we can diver deeper!

Beat the Cold Season with This Magical Honey Mix and Bonus Ingredient for Cough!

Hi folks!

With coughs and colds making the rounds, I wanted to share one of my go-to remedies that works wonders. It’s simple, natural, and super effective.

Here’s the recipe for my Golden Honey Goodness:
  • 1/2 cup organic honey
  • 2 tablespoons turmeric
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Mix these together until smooth, then store your golden goodness in a glass container. When those first sniffles or coughs creep in, take a spoonful a day to help nip it in the bud. Or, take it daily as a preventative treat!

This mix combines the soothing power of honey with the anti-inflammatory and immune-boosting benefits of turmeric and cinnamon. Plus, it tastes amazing!

BONUS: Have a nasty cough you can't get rid of?  Buy a can of chunk pineapple and snack on it a couple times a day along with the Golden Honey Goodness above.  Within about two days your should be much better, and most times completely gone!

Stay cozy, stay healthy, and let me know if you give this a try!

With love,
Lynn

'Tis the season for flu and colds, so let’s talk about a natural remedy I use for my family: homemade elderberry syrup. This immune-boosting powerhouse is known for helping the body fight off colds and flu, but that’s not all. Here are some other amazing benefits:

  • Rich in antioxidants: Protects your body from free radicals and supports overall wellness.
  • Reduces inflammation: Helps soothe discomfort and promotes recovery.
  • Supports heart health: May help improve cholesterol levels and support a healthy heart.
  • Eases cold symptoms: Can shorten the duration and intensity of colds.
  • Promotes healthy skin: Its antioxidants may also contribute to glowing, youthful skin.

Elderberry syrup is a simple, natural addition to your wellness routine. Have you tried it yet? If so what is your experience?  I found myself making some this week to prepare for what is to come, and wanted to share my recipe:

Homemade Elderberry Syrup

  • 3 1/2 cups of water

3. Mash the elderberries in a glass bowl or jar

Hidden Health Remedies - Turpentine

Hi Everyone!

I want to start sharing healing remedies that have, in many cases, been forgotten. Let’s start with turpentine—but not for painting. Have you ever heard of using turpentine for medicinal purposes?

I first stumbled across this nearly two decades ago in the most unexpected way.

Every Thanksgiving, my family would travel to visit my in-laws, who lived in a very rural area. At the time, we had two young kids, ages 3 and 1. As a nervous mom, I often worried about what would happen if there were an emergency in such a remote place. My husband always reassured me: “People have lived out here forever. We’ll be fine.”

One morning, the kids had eaten breakfast, played for a bit and were content.  I laid our youngest down for a nap and my husband was keeping an eye on them so I could grab a quick shower. Just as I claimed my royal seat in the bathroom, his grandma came knocking on the door.

She didn’t just knock—she needed in immediately.

Now, let me set the scene: this wasn’t my mom or sister. This was my husband’s grandma. I’m not exactly a shy person, but this was a little out of my comfort zone. I mean seriously, come on now...

“Right now?” I asked.

“Yes, now!” she insisted.

Reluctantly, I got up and let her in. She went to the medicine cabinet, grabbed a tiny bottle, and left without another word. I went back to what I was doing, a bit bewildered, finished up in the bathroom, and came out to find everyone looking at me like something had happened.

“Don’t worry,” my husband said, “He’s okay.”

“Who’s okay? What happened?” I asked, panicked.

Our one-year-old, who had been napping in his playpen, had woken up and started toddling around the edge. In his curiosity, he managed to grab a wooden giraffe decoration by the yard tail that was on a nearby dresser, pulling it down on himself. The giraffe hit him square on the forehead, leaving a small but deep gash at his hairline.

He immediately started crying and when my husband saw him, his little face was covered in blood. He wiped it off and discovered the cut. That’s when his grandma jumped into action. She didn’t hesitate for a second—she went straight for the bottle of turpentine.

“Turpentine” I thought, horrified. They dabbed it on the cut, and the bleeding stopped almost immediately.

Later, after I had calmed down, I did some research and learned that turpentine has been used for generations as a natural blood-clotting agent. What initially seemed shocking turned into a “lightbulb moment.” This little bottle was a staple in their medicine cabinet for a reason.

Since then, I’ve discovered turpentine’s many other uses. Of course, like with any remedy, do your own research, but it’s definitely worth knowing about.

Have you heard of this before? Or do you have any similar remedies passed down in your family? Let’s share and bring these old traditions back to life!

If you want to learn about more health tips and remedies leave a comment below.  I love to share this type of content.

Have a great Friday!

God Bless,
Lynn
