I'm in New Zealand, where we seem to be having a real burst of natural disasters - frequent earthquakes and two devastating storms/cyclones which have displaced many. In reading the news today, a new tropical cyclone is forecast!
I honestly don't know how much more some people can take - some have lost everything ... their homes, their livelihoods, their treasured possessions. Others have even lost loved ones. And guess what - those at the top are LYING. They say there's no crime, no looting - well, locals will tell you differently. The official line is that there are only tens of people missing/uncontactable; the real situation is likely to be far worse.
It's brought out peoples' true natures - some have been amazing, donating whatever they can in cash and goods; others, have shown their true colours for the a-holes that they are.
The money is going to run out at some point. The roading alone (to be fixed) is huge - hundreds upon hundreds of kilometres of roading and bridges.
