Matthew 2:23 So it was fulfilled what was said through the prophets: "He will be called a Nazarene."
Nowhere in the Old Testament is this stated by the prophets.
What is the source of this quotation used by Matthew?
The context is the time when Joseph receives a dream advising him to take Mary and the Christ child from Egypt back to Israel.
A. I get there are books of the Bible that have been lost. The Bible used to contain more stories and as different editions have been printed, information has been left out. You have to be careful how you interpret the words in front of you. If something seems to not connect, there is a reason.
I get that the statement in Matthew was referring to a lost conversation....
What I want to know is Was This Intentional? I do see this being intentional. Throughout time things get altered to obfuscate information. The Bible is a sacred and holy document that people look to for guidance. Altering or changing any part of it, even during language translation, can change an entire meaning. I will leave you with that...
And that is all I have for this reading. Love and light, Lynn

When I was a kid and having lessons from the Baltimore Catechism, which is Catholic, I always questioned if there really was a Jesus and how would anyone really know? I always had a suspicion about the Catholic Church with its ceremony and its emphasis on human leaders rather than the spiritual and I think that they purposely planned at the Council of Nicaea when they put together the Bible and took out a lot of books of the Essenes and Gospels of Thomas and Mary.
ReplyDeleteHowever I think that the essence of the Bible is absolutely authentic in spirit and that in many ways it reminds me of Shakespeare's plays with beautiful adages and truisms which used to rewrite history so that it could be more living and understandable for the people of its day. Maybe both were divinely inspired by a God who knew they would become eternal references for centuries to come. In that sense the Bible is very valid despite the heavy editing and we have to respect what people believe even though it may be just part of the truth and rely on our own spirituality to fill in the blanks.
