Do Plants Feel Pain

Q.  Hi Lynn,

Do plants feel pain? I grow cat grass all the time for my cats, and the more spiritual I become, the more I think of all things having consciousness. Do we hurt plants when we eat them?

Thanks for answering my goofy question.

A.  As I focus on this, I get that it isn't "pain" they experience when disturbed, but more of an energy shift.  You aren't hurting them.  They are all created from Source/God, and energetically connect back to that source.  Eating plants and animals is part of the cycle of life.  Some animals eat plants, some eat animals and some eat both.  It is just an exchange of energy as one being takes in another.

You are consuming a life force.  Interestingly, I get that once a plant or animal is harvested, the life force slowly fades so consuming fresh veggies (for example) allows your body to consume more of the nutritional value and essence of that plant.  Something that has aged will still have value, but it doesn't feel to be as potent.

And that is all I have for this reading.  Thank you.  Love and light, Lynn

An interesting observation I made recently was about a favorite house plant that I closely identified with, an ivy that was very healthy and thriving until I tore my rotator cuff six months ago and noticed the leaves on the second "arm" of the ivy climbing the wall started to go limp like they were hanging on but barely. I finally decided to remove that weak section then I got a rotator cuff operation, so I'll be interested to see if the ivy now puts out a second healthier arm as before.

I do find it interesting that it is evil when other beings feed off of our energy but when we literally feed off energy of plants and animals this is considered part of life. "As above so below..." That is part of why I don't view things anymore as good vs. evil, light vs. dark. The Universe just is. I just try and love and respect all that is, was, and will ever be. No more fear.

@Robert: I read long ago that, if your plants love you, they will take your pain from you. It shows up just like you described.

@wickedlydia: I think you're right and as plants are the primary source of medicine, imagine how their healing properties are more intense alive and focused on the specific caretaker who waters it?

This ivy, named "Eve," got caressed and spoken to daily and was in the corner of our bathtub, but knew never to encroach over the tub out of consideration for us. Another thing was that for two decades we had a toxic neighbor whom we shared a narrow alley with and the plants would always die on that side of the house, including this bathroom. I'm thinking the plants died absorbing his negative energy and that now that he's dead and gone the plants thrive.
