SubscribeStar: Fox Sister Scandal?

Q.  What is your read on the Fox sisters who lived in upstate NY and started a spiritualism movement?

They had quite a following, yet at one point "admitted" it was a hoax.  This admission was given at the offer of a $1,500 payment at a time when they were supposedly in need of money. 

Were they authentic?  Was the body found buried in the basement of their house "Mr. Splitfoot" the spirit they were communicating with?  Supposedly he was a man that had been murdered there on a sales call?

Any other interesting bits of info come through about them that is less known?
