Q. Hi, do plants have a consciousness? If so, how advanced, and how different is it from our human consciousness?
Also, in my childhood, I remember staring at the fire, and feeling as if it had consciousness and it was actually like a temporary existence or maybe a cluster of self-aware beings. Is this true?
A. As I focus on this, I do get plants have a consciousness. Their consciousness extends to feeling energies and frequencies around them. I see that is why when people sing or talk to their plants, the plant actually grows better. The plants pick up on the human connection, and it promotes health.
I get that when people pick plants, vegetables, herbs, etc, take a moment and have some gratitude. Even a simple "thank you" in your mind can mean a lot. They will feel your appreciation and yield a healthier, and even more nutritious crop.
What is interesting if they are part of a collective consciousness with each other too. For example, if you are in a forest and causing harm / destruction, when you enter a different area, the plants feel it and are "on guard." They feel it and pick up on what your intentions are.
As I switch and look at fire, I do see it like an energy force. I wouldn't say it has a consciousness, but definitely get an energetic presence that draw beings in like a magnet. What you experienced (in the question) was the collection of beings being brought to the location. When people see fire as alive, it is true it is intense energy, but the "life" comes from beings surrounding the "energy beacon" it creates rather than the fire itself.
And that is all I have for this reading. Thank you. Love and light, Lynn

So it's kind of like in The Lord of the rings, where Gimli, Legolas, and Aragorn are in Fangorn Forest, and Aragorn tells Gimli to lower his axe because the trees are uneasy. <3
Having lived in the same place for almost 30 years where I planted many trees when I first got there, I've been able to seeing the interaction between the trees and know they are very considerate and communicate with each other on how to share the available sunlight and be good neighbors to each other. We also had a toxic neighbor for many years and in the rooms facing his house plants always died. When he finally move they started to thrive, and I know they love our personal attention watering and caressing them.
How about those annual plants that meant for one life cycle? Do they have the same level of consciousness of the other plants ? How about weeds which are supposed to be a nuisance and have to be removed! Do we say "Thank you" too?
It's true too about plant growing better if being talked to ... from my own experience. Nope, I didn't take the risk of singing to them, in case my neighbor next door think I'm weird.
Gee! Now I feel bad about buying bouquet flowers every Sunday! Or didn't manage to keep my balcony flowers or those indoor alive for long.
Thanks for the interesting article.
@TheOnlyOne: I've never really watched or read Lord of the Rings, but what you describe sounds accurate.
@Robert: That is really cool. Thanks for sharing!
@Hope: The amount of consciousness varies, but yes they do all have one. :-)
Thanks for the comments!
I wanted to quickly share this NPR Link

A new exhibit at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden uses tiny microphones to prove it's possible to hear the sounds that plants make when they're growing. 🌵
Thanks!
This does make me wonder, are tree stumps still alive?
You never watched it! It's history!
@CartalkByJJ: Thanks for sharing!
@Melly: Yes, until it dies at the root..
@TheOnlyOne: I haven't.. maybe I should. :-)
Is fire akin to an aspect of the sun?
@Iverna: In some ways I would say yes..
