Have a great day folks!
(To the tune of "Old MacDonald Had a Farm")
Old MacTrump ran a farm, E-I-E-I-O,
A fee on wheels,
Here a charge, there a barge,
Old MacTrump ran a farm, E-I-E-I-O.
And on his farm he raised some tariffs, E-I-E-I-O.
With a tax on steel,A fee on wheels,
Here a charge, there a barge,
Old MacTrump ran a farm, E-I-E-I-O.
Old MacTrump built trade so fair, E-I-E-I-O,
While global whines filled the air, E-I-E-I-O.
With a deal so tight,
A wall of might,
Here a win, there a grin,
Old MacTrump ran a farm, E-I-E-I-O.
While global whines filled the air, E-I-E-I-O.
With a deal so tight,
A wall of might,
Here a win, there a grin,
Old MacTrump ran a farm, E-I-E-I-O.
The left pouted, "This won’t do!" E-I-E-I-O,
"Reciprocal trade will hurt me and you!" E-I-E-I-O.
Watch cash stack high, debts fell low,
Their rage spun wild, a frantic show,
Old MacTrump ran a farm, E-I-E-I-O.
"Reciprocal trade will hurt me and you!" E-I-E-I-O.
Watch cash stack high, debts fell low,
Their rage spun wild, a frantic show,
Old MacTrump ran a farm, E-I-E-I-O.
I hope this made you laugh!
Much Love,
Lynn
All these the decades the great US insight was keeping wars out of its territory. Now this tarrif combat has no Theater of war it will reach everyone's pocket. In your psychic opinion who will lose less at the end? It seems appropriate to remember: after elections is before elections. (This is American exceptionalism on steroids, completely disconnected from reality.
ReplyDeleteChina will do what it always does when faced with U.S. hostile actions: they won't talk much but trigger policies that will demonstrate in due time that these actions were utterly… https://t.co/t4F0ryhDrm

In the end, the question is: who will lose this economic war?
The US, which has to try to rebuild entire production ecosystems that China has established over decades in a very short space of time - while struggling with rising inflation, production costs and the loss of the largest consumer market of the future?
Or China, which has been systematically freeing itself from dependence on the USA for years, has long been the center of global production and can redirect its exports to a huge domestic market and alternative partners?
The fundamental error in thinking is to view world trade as a zero-sum game in which America can simply dictate by pressure - instead of recognizing the complex global dependencies.)
This is a great comment worth it's own post... Let me ponder this over and work on this.
DeleteTrump is losing weight so that Farmer image is out of date. Saw today an unofficial list of of the steps China will take to retaliate is to end all Fentanyl cooperation, which is basically a threat to let their factories and drug dealers flood the US Market. If they do, Trump should set up a long conga line of months long inspections looking for Fentanyl before their highly tarriffed "goods" get delivered.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely going to be interesting to see how this shakes out.
DeleteVery funny! This is actually a traditional song in Sweden as well. I didn't know there was an English version as well!
ReplyDeleteHere is a Swedish version from 1947: link
