Celebrate Today: Life is Too Short

Let’s hit pause on the political reality show we’re all watching. I’m drawn in too, but every now and then, it’s vital to step back, breathe, and reconnect with what truly matters: family, health, and happiness.

There’s a story I once heard that shifted how I see things, and it’s stuck with me ever since.
Years ago, a couple received a beautiful, expensive bottle of wine as a wedding gift. It felt too special to open right away, so they tucked it away in their kitchen cupboard, saving it for the perfect occasion. Life unfolded with its share of joys, There were birthdays, promotions, anniversaries - but somehow, nothing ever felt quite "worthy" of that bottle. Time slipped by and the wine faded into the background, gathering dust.

Then, one ordinary day tragedy struck. The husband was killed in a devastating car accident on his way home from work. The wife was left shattered, and it took years to piece herself back together. Eventually, she decided to sell their home and move somewhere new. While packing, she found it. It was that bottle of wine, still unopened. It was a reminder of moments they’d let pass by. As she held it she was overcome with emotion. They’d had so many reasons to celebrate, so many quiet victories and shared smiles that could’ve been toasted with that wine. But they didn't. They were always waiting for some elusive "someday."

That story left an impression because it’s a reminder: don’t put off joy. Don’t save the good stuff whether it’s a bottle of wine, nice shoes or special outfit or a moment of gratitude for a tomorrow that might never come. Savor the now, and cherish what’s in front of you. Life’s too fragile to keep waiting.

I hope you enjoy this story and lesson on living in the "now" too.

Much Love,
Lynn
