Happy Thanksgiving Lynn and everyone!
Turns out we have Thanksgiving as a Christian holiday in Sweden as well, on the second Sunday of October. But it has completely fallen out of use, and barely anyone celebrates it anymore. But in the past, farmers used to bring part of the harvest to church as a way to thank God. And poor people would then be gifted that harvest.
Much more popular are the harvest festivals/markets usually held in various places around the country in September/October, and without Christian connotations.
Nevertheless, I think it's likely that influence from European Christian traditions may have contributed to the rise of Thanksgiving as a holiday in the US.
same to you Lynn....have a gobbley good time :)
Thanks for the well wishes! @enlightened one: Interesting...
Hoping for the best for USA and Europe.
Care and love more for each other. Love and light upon you and your families.
@Truth/Knowledge Master: That is beautiful. Great message!
