Teeth

Q. Hi all the way from New Zealand!

I just wanted to know something from a personal experience (and others have probably had this happen too).. I was Caribbean born and migrated to New Zealand with the whitest, strongest teeth.  Now I'm suffering from dematerialized teeth, sensitivity, whiteness loss, cavity prone teeth with tiny signs tooth decay.. It's like the environment is sucking the life out of me and I'm now working on diet change and different remineralizing techniques like taking fermented cod liver oil, warm sea salt wash and eating celery and alkaline veggies and foods, even grinding up eggshells and ingesting them.. I'm going to get my thyroid checked as well.. This happens to a lot of people here.. What is the best way to help remineralize teeth and strengthen tooth enamel for stronger and healthier teeth and gums? This would be a huge help not only for me but for others that I will tell and help.. How long will it take for the effects to start happening?..

Thanks so much :)
A. When I tune into this the first thing I get is that you have to eliminate the things in your life that are causing the teeth and gum problems.  I see those things as being refined sugars and bacteria (which combined look to causes plaque and also attack the enamel on the teeth).  The sugars feel easy to diagnose and eliminate, but the bacteria that lingers can be a little more difficult.  I see a technique called oil pulling as a way to rid your mouth (and other areas of your body) of this harmful bacteria.  The elimination of sugars and the oil pulling (done daily until symptoms improve, then can be done a few times a week) look as important as good brushing and flossing when oral health is concerned.

When brushing also pay attention to why type of toothpaste you are using.  I see that a concoction of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide make an effective paste (stay away from fluoride as it can cause more harm than good and even leave white marks / spots on the teeth if overdone).  If you don't prefer the taste, infuse a few drops of peppermint essential oil into the paste.

Diet also plays an important role.  I get that since most foods we eat now come from the store and are "ultra washed" before we eat them (to avoid pesticides, herbicides, etc) we aren't getting the natural minerals from the earth that we once did.  Ideally, you would eat at least something fresh from a trusted garden each day that has had a gentle wash (enough just to remove the dirt), but if that isn't possible, take a daily trace mineral to replenish what you body is missing.  I also see vitamin A and D playing an important role (again, natural intake is better, but supplements can be used).

Try to avoid acidic drinks, and if you are having a craving consider using a straw (I see someone drinking coffee with a straw placed as far back in their mouth as comfortable to keep it off their teeth).  After eating something acidic, a sea salt rinse / gargle can also help to reset the pH balance.

And that is all I have for this reading.  Thank you.  Love and light-

Does anyone know of a way to re-enamel teeth? Does oil pulling help this? I have none left after a couple bouts of severe morning sickness

Hi all the way from new zealand*

Thanks very much for this..ive had to go see a natropathetic herbalist doctor and have to do an iodine test..as my thyroid is completly off..and because of that my body isnt working right..so hence the teeth problems..especially moving to a colder environment..so yes i have been oil pulling..but now i have to cut down on things and get it more calcium until my iodine test is done and then i can take small doses of it..then wait to take bigger doses..so it can reset my thyroid etc..thanks much for your time girl :)

Thanks a million Lynn....may I share that ever since I started swishing and gargling with Hydrogen Peroxide (3%) morning and night after I brush, my teeth have never been shinier and smoother. I believe it kills all the remaining bad bacteria and I never have bad breath.

Hi thanks Lynn! One wonders what causes yellow teeth, and is it diet-related?

Oil pulling caused the lymph nodes in my neck to swell- any insight into why and should I stop doing it?

Sweet! I forgot about the oil pulling .
I heard Sage is good for gingivitis . Antibacterial.
I started growing Sage in my yard and found out I love the smell and taste of Sage in a tea as well .

I am concerned about the reports that bad teeth can have effect on other aspects of health like the heart. Family member would rather wait until it is time to pull the tooth from decay then regular maintenance at the dentist .

Thank you so much for the kind comments! I truly do appreciate them!

@c. chavous: Thanks for the suggestion.

@Joao: I do see it related.

@AKKL: It feels like you are releasing a lot of toxins (like there was a build up there you are “pulling” out and causing this). I am not a doctor, so do what is right for you, BUT if you do wish to continue, drink A LOT of water to get the toxins out and you can also apply tea tree oil directly (on the outside of your neck) to the swollen node.

@Erin: Thanks for sharing, and you are right. Oral health is very important because so much runs through our lymph nodes and body (that is all connected to the mouth). Root canals are the worst (avoid and all costs!! Because dentists almost NEVE.R get the entirety of the tooth which leaves a rotten, bacteria in your mouth). I feel like a lot of cancer can be traced to a root canal event.

Imagine trying to talk about "alternative" dentistry to a wife that is a hygienist! Haha... She is the best hygienist you'll ever have though I hardly ever go to the dentist which she has accepted. She is learning and more willing to accept natural remedies though. Essential oils have helped with her kids and that is been an eye opener.

Anyway, I use "Tooth Soap" with activated charcoal, organic extra virgin olive and coconut oils, Himalayan salt, distilled water and essential oil. My teeth feel clean and I think look pretty white for as much coffee as I do drink. I know I should give up some of the "acidic drinks" but meh, maybe some day...

Also Related to health but with a sport conotation: while many atheletes get banned due to consumption of illegal "power drugs" do you have an idea, if there already exist atheletes exposed to biological engineering while still in theyr mother's womb an therefore not recognizable by tratitional doping tests? Sounds weird I know but maybe its not impossible. Thank you!

Lots of dental issues come from the strep bacteria and Ebstein Barr Virus, which both are herpetic and get into cells. Most often if one is present so is the other. Heavy metals, antibiotics, hormones from adrenal fatigue and animal fats feed the bacteria and viruses. Taking a big picture look at cause helps to acheive healing. Licorice root (non alcohol tincture) and sovereign silver can help dramatically but whole body immune boosting and cleansing are how true healing happens.

Lynn what is your take on pulling with wheatgrass? instead of coconut oil you cant flush it down the drain...

Great advice. Thank you.

@EA RW: You can try the wheat grass, but I kept seeing more of an oil base substance (something about the density to create the "pulling" effect.) If you do it, let us know how you feel and what results you get.

@Questioner

If others living there are experiencing the same thing, maybe there is a common factor that causes this symptom? Maybe something in the tapwater? Maybe you should try drinking springwater instead.

Is it only humans who are affected, or plants and animals too?
Are there any big factories nearby that may give off pollutants with this effect?
Is this symptom occuring across NZ or just in this region?

I would also like to recommend the book recommended above by C Chavous. It is a real treasure of information.

Black Walnut Extract is supposed to help build enamel. Fermented Cod liver oil is excellent for teeth health.

Oh, dear, Blimpy. I'm so sorry to hear about the morning sickness. I'm sure your teeth are okay...although they probably feel like hell. Look at the many good suggestions above to remove the acid aftermath! Please continue to take good care of yourself!!

I've been brushing with Medical Medium's suggestion...a little pricey depending on your income, but I do like the product very well, indeed. You can read more here. The description begins with: "A combination of nature's best ingredients to nourish your mouth by balancing natural bacteria, fortifying teeth and gums, removing stains on teeth and feeding them daily with minerals. We use certified organic ingredients, every ingredient has a benefit to your mouth. Minerals bind to the tooth surface to aid in remineralization of the enamel, decreasing the risk of cavities. Extra virgin coconut oil, A proven antibacterial and detoxifier, cleans your teeth, gums and tongue extracting toxins and bacteria out of it...." Called Lucky Teeth Toothpaste.

Sounds like something out of Chinatown. Ah so...Lucky Teeth.

Thank you Buddhist lady! Thankfully the babies have been out for couple years now so I'm just paying the extra price for the morning sickness now. I will check out those suggestions, thank you xo

It doesn't matter which type article I read on keeping teeth healthy, baking soda always seems to be a part of the discussion. I have raved about how the baking soda does as good a job as any toothpaste on the market today. But, hey, nothing still beats professional whitening!
